I'm running the NJ Half Marathon this year for a cause- Aslan Youth Ministries.
Actually, I'm not the only one running for Team Aslan. Mike's running with me, too. And there are a whole bunch of people running, too! I'll keep you posted on the training, on my thoughts on this whole fundraising process, and life in general.
Life has been pretty crazy lately. Between my "job", and the snow and wedding planning and marriage preparing (2 very different things!), I've fallen into J's World. It's actually really easy to do.
So this whole race is a great visual reminder that it's not all about me. This year, my purpose is not to lose a couple pounds while training (aka cramming in a couple long runs in April). It's not to prove to anyone how tough I am. It's not even about the "free" tee shirt and medal and food I receive after the race. It's about raising money (that I so easily take for granted) for an organization that is literally changing my community for the better. It's about being part of a TEAM and getting to know people outside of my work, church, school circle. It's about training and prepping. It's about making a couple of sacrifices and being a little more disciplined with my time.
I am excited. And seriously, we've raise $125.00 already. People are awesome!!!!
