and that goes for you, too, mr. mail merge Wizard! You claim to walk me through step by step but there seems to be something missing on your end (clearly!) on step 4!
wedding invitations! the goal is to have them in the mail on tuesday. i put some unexpected dinner guests to work to help assemble them. great. done. stamped. fabulous. love you guys!
then, it's time for the addresses. I've battled the hand-written vs. printed label and to be quite honest, while i'm all about the handwritten letter and personal touch of a hand-addressed letter, let's get real about when you're sending out a buttload of invites. thus, i chose the labels.
OK, get to work. first thing's first. mail merged worked for the save the dates. problem was the font. a numerous amount of letters got returned because the fancy font was, well, a little too fancy for our sophisticated mail system. great. noted. gonna change that this time around. so i knew that the mail merge had worked. but i wanted to update some of the addresses... OK, i did it last time, this time would be NO. BIG. DEAL.
hah. problem 1: my 'rents computer doesn't have excel. so i have to use some sort of works spread sheet program. i think that the Word 97!!! doesn't recognize it.
So why not use your much newer laptop? oh, b/c my Mac has contracted some sort of sickness a while ago that whenever i click the "Open" on the drop down menu, my computer freezes and i have to Force Quit Word. So that means when i try and "Open" the "New Data" for the "mail Merge" (ok, that last set of quotes was just b/c i got carried away...) it freezes. Hence, I have to use the stone-age interweb machine downstairs. i know i sound like one of my 8th graders...
Long story shorter? Addresses are being hand written.
Pros: Personal touch. I can work on my penmanship. Hopefully, the zip codes will be legible this time.
Cons: Hand cramp.
that's right, this puppy just made the 44 cent stamp. holler!
