wisdom from yoga class

me. yoga class. yes, it's quite the sight to see. last class, i learned the floating elephant and the bird of paradise. and my "yogi" aka yoga instructor is a hoot! she's also my step class teacher, pilates, and kick boxing instructor of choice, too. she's really funny. there's not so much the hindu spiritual side of yoga in this class. in fact, last time during the quiet "meditation" part, my gym partner and eye got "the look" from the woman next to us for talking and giggling!

anyways, we ended class with this cliche that i took to heart:
a thousand mile journey begins with one step
Time and again, you hear life spoken about as a journey, one where you just gotta keep walking.  Keep moving forward. One step at a time. Step by Step. You can read all about it in the Bible, too, in the Old Testament and the New Testament. The story of God's people is one of a journey. They are on the move. They are escaping. They are finding refuge. They are walking. They are following Jesus.

And each step counts. Sometimes it seems like one step gets you nowhere. And sometimes it feels like you've been walking for a million and two miles. Right now, I feel like I'm taking baby steps in life. But I know that's ok. Paul, a guy who followed Jesus, says we "Walk by faith not by sight." And that's something I've got to live by. Not always knowing what it's going to look like but trusting that God knows.  Because he is a God of love. After all, we read "And this is love: that we WALK in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you WALK in love." 2john6  Jesus commands us to take each step in love. He set the bar high.
